Back to school…
So after an amazingly relaxing summer, school is officially back in session. New students moved in on the 23rd of August, while returning students moved in on the 25th. I moved into my apartment at the beginning of the summer, so I’ve been on campus for a while now. It’s been really awesome seeing all the people who went home for the summer, though.
Classes started on Wednesday, August 27 [[although I'm taking some once-a-week classes, so my Tuesday classes met for the first time yesterday!]]. I’m taking 20.5 credits this semester, which is 6 academic classes + a gym class. The average courseload for undergrads is about 15 credits, or 5 classes, so I have a pretty full workload this semester. I was really nervous about taking such an intense courseload, especially since I will be working on campus about 27 hours a week, and am an active member of several clubs & organizations [[see my "About Me" page in the upper-right hand corner for more details]]. After getting the syllabi and meeting the professors, however, I think that I will definitely be able to do really well this semester despite how busy I will be.
I’m actually posting this blog from work- as I mentioned before I work on campus, for the Office of Residential Life. I’m a front desk staffer in Erickson Hall [[one of our residence halls]]. I sit at the desk in the lobby and sign people into the building, hand out toilet paper [[yes, it's free!]], sort mail, and do many other tasks to keep the residents happy
It’s a great job- the front desks are open 24 hours a day, so I can work whenever I want to. Even though I am working about 27 hours a week, I do have some downtime to study or send e-mails or do other things.
I’ve actually got some work to do before my class at 1, but I’ll post again soon!
